REGISTRATION CLOSES WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15

We recognize that getting time away from work to attend conferences, training, and continuing education workshops is getting more and more difficult. This year we are offering a number of events "a la carte" to better meet this challenge. On Monday, April 20 you can attend an intesive pre-conference workshop. The full conference will be held on Tuesday, April 21.

GCM Conference Vision Statement:
The Girls Coalition of Minnesota, through the annual conference, seeks to build the leadership capacity of professionals, create opportunities for increased collaboration among organizations and individuals across Minnesota, and to highlight emerging issues and research of importance to young women across Minnesota.

For 19 years the GCM annual conference has celebrated the uniqueness of young women and inspired attendees to continue their efforts in creating a just and equitable future for girls.

The GCM annual conference will:

  • Celebrate and affirm the strength, resilience, and uniqueness of young women and girls,
  • Provide culturally appropriate and culturally relevant information on issues facing young women and professionals who serve them,
  • Give girls and young women an opportunity to share their voices in a constructive and creative way, and
  • Share new research on emerging issues important to girls and young women and highlight effective program and intervention strategies.

Target Audience:
Adults who work with, or care about girls. The following fields are frequently represented:

  • Social Work (child protection, foster care, courts, schools)
  • Public Health
  • Education
  • Corrections
  • Community Health
  • Health Care, Nursing
  • Human/Social Service
  •  Public Policy
  •  Parents

The GCM annual conference is appropriate for adults who work in direct service or administrative/program management or planning roles. In 2009 two new tracks will be introduced: a Leadership Development track, for any interested attendee, and a Girls track is available to invite participation of young women.
